As you are reading this think of an example of something you want to
change in your life...
Hypnosis is a very special form of communication... a state of focused awareness we call the trance state.
Hypnosis is a natural state of mind. You experience lighter states of hypnosis when you daydream, watch a movie, or forget where you are while driving your car.
Deep hypnosis happens every night as you fall
asleep before entering a state of deep unconscious sleep.
The hypnosis session begins with a slow gradual transition so that you can get
relaxed... we do an induction... talking you into a deeper and deeper state of relaxation:
thatís when you enter a trance state, which is a light alpha state. As your breathing
and heart rate slow down, the brainwaves slow down as well. Your body is relaxed and
your mind is relaxed: thatís hypnosis.
Some people experience warmth and maybe some heaviness of the legs and arms; and a reluctance to move or speak.
Very often people think they have not been hypnotized because they really didnít feel that different: they could still hear everything said to them, were aware of the room etc.
Remember: Hypnosis is a focused state of awareness.
In a normal session, you will remain aware of everything around you, hear my
voice and be aware of internal experiences: you may see images,
experience memories and insights that may be helpful to solve your immediate problem.
When you are in a hypnotic trance, you are not actually asleep: you will hear everything said during a session, even if you drift off or experience daydreams.
Should an external emergency arise, your subconscious mind will always bring you
back to full waking awareness: the main job of your unconscious mind is to
keep you safe!
Thatís a myth. No one can make you do or say anything you donít want to do in or out of hypnosis.
The old model of hypnosis from scary movies and novels says that the hypnotist does something to you: puts you under and makes suggestions to you that you then have to carry out.
The hypnotist cannot make you say or do anything that you are
not willing to do.
NO. Because the hypnotic trance is so relaxing, people often wish that they could stay there. Even if you fell asleep during a session, you would naturally wake up when you are ready.
Even when you drift off into daydreams, you will easily come back when the hypnotist
begins instructions for returning to normal waking awareness.
Hypnosis all by itself is not a quick fix for any problem. It isnít a matter of taking something out or putting something in.
However, as a tool for problem solving to experience permanent and positive change can it help you:
10. What is self-hypnosis and how does it work?
Self-hypnosis is as simple as closing your eyes and taking some deep breaths and going inside to ask a question; rest deeply; or focus on your goal (intention).
Did you know that by simply breathing deeply 3 to 5 times you can change your respiration and heart rate and slow down your brain waves into an alpha state of physical and mental relaxation?
When you do, you open up a door into an inner space where Magic can happen, where a deeper wiser part of yourself can offer you:
By focusing your mind on what you do want EVERY DAY, you can make the changes you want.
Hypnosis can help you do what you WANT to do:
Hypnosis is increasingly being recognized as a powerful healing therapy when used in conjunction with medical interventions.
Hypnosis has the power to transform many illnesses,
accessing the power of the mind through deep relaxation (to open the parasympathetic nervous system and access inner healing powers), plus the power of suggestion, self-hypnosis and other hypnotic techniques and tools.
Hypnosis utilizes the mind/body connection to transform the challenges of the body. It can:
